Spanish Point Golf Club

Spanish Point Golf Club is a compact but wonderfully characterful links course perched above the Atlantic on the west Clare coast, just south of Miltown Malbay. At 5,162 yards and par 68, it may be shorter than the championship links nearby, but what it lacks in length it more than compensates for in scenery, character and sheer enjoyment.

The course has been a fixture of west Clare golf for many decades and occupies dramatic clifftop terrain above a beautiful crescent of sandy beach. The views across the Atlantic from many of the holes are exceptional — on a clear day the Aran Islands are visible. Wind off the Atlantic is a constant presence and turns what might otherwise appear a gentle course into a genuine challenge.

Green fees of €20 to €30 make Spanish Point one of the most affordable links rounds in Ireland, and the course is an excellent choice for golfers who want a genuine wild Atlantic links experience without the premium pricing of Lahinch or Doonbeg. The village of Miltown Malbay is nearby with good pubs and restaurants. Lahinch is just 15 minutes north.
