Kilkee Golf Club

Kilkee Golf Club is situated on the dramatic clifftops above Kilkee Bay on the Loop Head Peninsula — one of the most remote and beautiful stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way. The course plays to 5,526 yards at par 69 and hugs the cliffs in a way that creates some of the most memorable and scenic golf holes in all of Ireland.

Founded in 1896 and redesigned in subsequent decades, Kilkee is one of those small, characterful links courses that rewards the effort of the journey to get there. The terrain is exposed — wind from the Atlantic is a constant companion — and several holes play directly along the cliff edge with the sea far below. It is both exhilarating and utterly authentic.

Green fees of €20 to €30 are extraordinary value for a genuine clifftop links on the Wild Atlantic Way. The village of Kilkee itself is a traditional seaside resort beloved of Irish holidaymakers, with excellent seafood restaurants, traditional pubs and a beautiful horseshoe bay. Combining a round at Kilkee with Spanish Point and Lahinch makes for one of the great golf road trips in Ireland.

Absolutely. The Loop Head Peninsula is one of the most spectacular and undervisited stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way. Kilkee Golf Club is the jewel of a drive that also takes in Loop Head Lighthouse, the Cliffs of Kilkee, traditional fishing villages and some outstanding seafood. It is a full day's adventure well worth making.
Kilkee Golf Club was founded in 1896, making it one of the oldest established clubs in County Clare. The course has been redesigned and extended over the years but retains the natural, exposed character of a traditional clifftop links that has evolved with the landscape rather than against it.
Kilkee is best combined with Spanish Point (approximately 35 kilometres north) and Lahinch (around 55 kilometres north) to create a spectacular west Clare links trail. This is one of the great Irish golf road trips — three very different but equally authentic Atlantic links courses, each with its own distinct character, all within a 60-kilometre stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.
