Dromoland Castle Golf Club

Dromoland Castle Golf Club is set within the estate of Dromoland Castle — one of Ireland's great 5-star hotels and one of the few remaining ancestral homes of the Gaelic Irish chieftains. The course stretches to 6,824 yards and plays to par 72, weaving through magnificent parkland, along the shoreline of Lough Dromoland and through centuries-old stands of oak and beech.

The layout was redesigned by Ron Kirby and JB Carr in the 1960s and has been refined further in subsequent decades. Water comes into play on several holes, the greens are fast and well-maintained, and the castle itself features as a dramatic backdrop throughout the back nine. It is a course that rewards accuracy and a thoughtful approach.

Located just 15 minutes from Shannon Airport, Dromoland is the perfect first or last night of a Clare golf break. Hotel guests receive priority tee times, but visitor bookings are welcomed subject to availability. Green fees range from €95 to €140. The clubhouse facilities are excellent, and the 5-star hotel offers one of Ireland's most luxurious post-round experiences.
